At Nexus Family Connect, we provide safe, welcoming and child-focused Family Time services for children and the important people in their lives.

We understand that Family Time can take place for many different reasons and that every family’s circumstances are different. Our role is to provide the right level of support, oversight and structure so that children can spend time with their family in a way that prioritises their safety, emotional wellbeing and individual needs.

Depending on the needs of the child and the arrangements agreed, we can provide:

• Supervised Family Time – where a trained practitioner remains present throughout the session, observes interactions and provides support or intervention where required.
• Supported Family Time – for families who require a safe and neutral setting with a lower level of direct supervision.
• Community Family Time – allowing children and family members to spend time together in appropriate community settings where this has been assessed as suitable.
• Virtual Family Time – professionally supported video contact where face-to-face Family Time is not possible or where virtual contact forms part of a wider plan.
• Facilitated Handovers – providing a neutral handover arrangement where parents may need to remain separate or where additional structure is required.
• Indirect Family Time – supporting appropriate communication through letters, cards, photographs or other agreed forms of indirect contact.
• Reconnection and Progression Work – structured support where relationships need to be rebuilt gradually or where a child needs additional preparation before Family Time progresses.

Nexus is not simply a room in which families meet.

Our practitioners provide a child-centred and trauma-informed service, offering appropriate guidance and support while remaining professionally independent.

Where Family Time is supervised, our records can consider the child’s presentation, significant interactions, activities undertaken, the quality of interaction, support or guidance provided by staff, strengths observed and any relevant concerns or vulnerabilities.

Our aim is to create an environment where children can feel safe, comfortable and listened to, while giving families the opportunity to build positive and meaningful experiences together.

Family Time may be commissioned by parents, solicitors, Local Authorities, children’s guardians or other professionals, and arrangements can be tailored according to the needs of the individual child and family.
